Shelley qualified as a hairdresser at Cornwall College in 1987. Since then she has worked continuously within the industry and ran her own well-established hair salon 'Shelleys Unisex Hair Stylists' for some 13 years.
I work alongside Ruby, who joined me in September 2011 as an NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy Apprentice from Truro College. She was already a familiar face within the salon as she completed her NVQ Level 2 hairdressing qualification with Shelley and Truro College in July 2011. Ruby successfully completed her apprenticeship and is now attending the NVQ Level 3 Nail Services course. She recently gained first place for Advanced Nail Enhancements at the Cornish Skills Challenge Competition 2013 and then second place in The Worldskills UK Competition 2013.
Tara joined us part-time in September 2012. She completed her training in Falmouth and has been hairdressing since 1988, working in a top London salon for several years, then in France for eight years where she gained a lot of French flair. Tara specialises in foil colours whilst also covering all aspects of hairdressing, from modern up to date styles to classic styling.
Shelley left in March 2013 to return to The Isles of Scilly, she will be greatly miss. Tara has now increased her hours to full-time and is enjoying it.
Stacey joined us part-time in April 2013. She completed her NVQ Level 2 hairdressing qualification at Exeter College in 2006. Whilst working as a hair stylist she attended a Creative Nail Design (CND) Acrylic foundation course in 2006 and found her passion for nails. She began working as a mobile nail technician and then worked in a Hampshire salon until recently moving to Cornwall. Stacey is qualified with CND in Acrylic, Gel, Shellac, Spa-tacular (Spa Manicure and Spa Pedicure) and became a Master CND Artist in 2012. She has also completed an Eyelash Extensions course and some Gemma Lambert courses in One Stroke Nail Art, Gel Design and 3D Nail Art.
We will all have some great hair, nail and beauty treatment special offers available!
My name is Linda Chapman, I began my beauty career in 2006 by completing the NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy course at Truro College. I loved it immediately and followed it up by studying VTCT Level 2 Nail Technology and VTCT Level 2 Nail Art, both taught by Chrissy Grant at Truro College.
Since then I have also qualified with Caflon for ear piercing, Star Gems for temporary tooth gems, Truro College for henna tattooing, Lash Perfect for semi-permanent individual eyelash extensions, SiennaX for spray tanning, Hayden Health & Beauty Training Academy for threading, Ultimate Beauty Training Academy for Hopi Ear Candling.
I became a Creative Nail Design (CND) Master Nail Technician in both Acrylic and Gel Enhancements, and later in Spa-tacular (Spa Manicure and Spa Pedicure) treatments to become a CND Grand Master Nail Technician in 2010. I also qualified with CND in Minx, Shellac and Kupa efile.
In April 2011 I completed a "Preparing To Teach in Life Long Learning" course at Cornwall College and attended a Gemma Lambert course in Acrylic Design and 3D Nail Art. Then in 2012 I completed the VTCT Level 3 Nail Services at Truro College and gained 1st place in two inter class competitions, 1st place in The Cornish Skills Challenge 2012 & 1st place in The Worldskills UK Competition 2012. In February 2013, I attended further courses with Gemma Lambert in One Stroke Nail Art, Gel Design and 3D Nail Art. During April 2013 I attended a Kirsty Meakin course in Flowers, Frills, Bows and Bling.
At first I worked as a Mobile Therapist, then in early 2009 I joined my nail teacher, Chrissy Grant and her team at Ultimate Beauty in Falmouth, where I gained invaluable experience. I continued to work there part-time whilst opening my own TLC Nails & Beauty in Truro on 1st June 2010 where I also worked part-time. In November 2010 I became full-time at TLC Nails & Beauty. In June 2011 I returned part-time to Ultimate Beauty to help teach in the newly opened training academy. In November 2012 I brought "Shelleys Unisex Hair Stylists" and began trading as TLC Nails, Beauty & Hair.
I am now full-time at TLC Nails Beauty & Hair to ensure that we continue to provide a high quality service. I also regularly attend beauty shows and read industry related magazines to keep up-to-date with current trends and new products.
